ECL Ductwork is a well-established family business in East Anglia. ECL Ductwork has been trading for over 40 years and like any industry has changed throughout this time which they have adapted to and thrived by taking their products into various environments.
Challenge
The team at ECL Ductwork had been using the Sage Job Costing and CIS modules, and spreadsheets alongside their Sage 50 accounts package. This proved a very time-consuming process with several different places to record daily administration tasks.
Sage Job Costing is now no longer supported, leaving ECL Ductwork with software which no longer complies with upcoming and current legislations. Purchase orders where being raised using spreadsheets creating a lot of excess files.
Overall ECL Ductworks were spending a lot of time duplicating workload to have the information they needed. They also found that Retentions were hard to keep track of on spreadsheets and Sage Job Costing was not efficient enough to rely on.
Solution
ECL Ductworks have purchased Construction Manager 50. Construction Manager allows retentions to be viewed and tracked easily on-screen, overdue and due amounts are flagged.
Purchase orders can be entered easily and assigned to jobs, providing a clear visibility of spend. CIS Tax is also dealt with via Construction Manager, so there was no need for ECL Ductworks to continue using the Sage CIS module. CIS tax is worked out by the software and certificates are emailed directly to subcontractors. Construction Manager also links directly with HMRC for CIS tax.
Ultimately, ECL Ductworks now have one place to input and track all their job costing and contract management needs so they can see exactly what is happening on any of their projects at the touch of a button, alongside Sage 50.
